I've been trying to rack my brain for different combinations of keywords for a platform I developed, and no relevant keywords show any data for what I would think people would search for. AFAIK there are only so many combinations for the type of words used that people would search for.

Even when I search in google for what I personally would try, in order to find something similar to my platform, I get just a couple similar competitors, but mostly a bunch of spammy links. Is this potentially a sign that my target clients are only getting knowledge of my type of product from Print Advertising, Banner Ads and/or Vendor shows, and that SEO in a sense is a waste of time for me to do for my product? My platform is for the woodworking industry - a b2b SaaS.

    Thoughts? TIA.

I had suggest to try ranking a parasite and see how much traffic you get for those keywords. If you can get targeted traffic, then go to the next level...

Do you have any competition in your industry? Analyse your competition and see what keywords they are ranking for.
Don't jump to conclusions regarding SEO, your competitors may or may not be optimising.
Survey your current customers asking how they found you and what would they search for to look for you.
Study Keyword Research, what you think people might be searching for can be very different to what they actually type into a search engine.
