    Hi everyone,

I have been wondering with all of you who do SEO for a method of promotion on your websites. Is SEO risky? With all these algorithmic changes being implemented on major search engines? I read threads, etc, saying that your online business could die in a matter of seconds if you use SEO as a method of promotion. I'm planning to start a normal website and place adsense ads in it, but after I read about SEO the past week, it looks very risky and dangerous. Tell me what you guys think.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,
    Nicholas

Understandably, you have not provided enough information about your business for one to determine whether SEO is too 'risky' an activity to pursue for your upcoming website. Depending on your niche, it may be more worthwhile trying to drive traffic to your site from other mediums, such as social media. That said, in the majority of cases, search engines are a major source of traffic and should not be neglected simply on the basis of algorithm changes. If you do SEO smartly (read around the forum on how to do this) then you should be able to mitigate any potential negative impact that future algorthm changes will have on your website. If you are really concerned about the risk of algorithm changes then I would suggest that you stick to white hat SEO techniques (on-page and off-page) as nobody really knows what the big G will do next. The best thing to do is diversify your traffic sources so that your online business is not dependent on a certain type of traffic. That way your business will not 'die in seconds' if suddenly one of these sources dries up...

Any type of SEO is risky. When Google changes it's algorythm you can easily loose your positions in serch results.
BUT you may never get high positions in searxh results if you don't do any SEO activity.

So decide for yourself what you want archeive by using SEO as method of promotion and start to acheive your goals!

Yes, it 's risky and unproductive. That 's why we 're slowing moving the forum 's focus from SEO to knitting. At the very least, we 'll be warm in the winter.

If you do it the right way, it isn't risky. The key is to make everything look as natural as possible. Don't forget quality content.

Get out while you can! I know dozens of former BHW members gunned down in the streets by Matt Cutts himself... RIP.

The more risky a job is the less people will be at it and higher will be the payout. I love SEO and it helps me make a good living but I definitely had my learning curve and spent a ton of time in front of the PC trying to figure a way to rank sites.

If you think about it there is no job that is risk free 100%. For example let's say you are a truck driver exporting goods to other states. You might think that's a risk free job but you could have an accident down the road.

SEO is still definitely profitable and many people are banking on it. Sure Google will come up with all these animals but there will still always be survivors banking again and again after each update. Look at it now, there was this huge update that hit last year and many gave up on SEO, 1 year later do you see less SEO services or you still see them going strong? But SEO has definitely become much harder than long time ago when you could rank just on profile links, you will need to spend a long time in the learning curve as nobody is going to teach you their hardly acquired "secrets", but it's doable.

SEO is going to crash. Just like Bitcoin. Then you will die. Google will nail you to a server wall and stone you with floppy disks with algorithms on them.

Yea google has been known to actually spread STD's to people doing SEO improperly, thats why you should Hire one of us for a grand or so a month, Jesus when I first entered blackhat world I knew html, a little java, a little ruby and your basic onpage seo. It amazes me the questions people actually ask on here, I wish there was the most basic 3 question "test" to be able to post to the forum, I wonder how manny new guys have been flamed with the simple response USE THE SEARCH, they would have to figure out how to use the search or never be able to post, god that sounds glorious .:damnit1:
