Hi, like what I said in the title...is safe to buy used things with paypal? I found a great deal for equipment to my hobby (simracing)....but I think that it can be so good to be true. The value is $400 and my questions is... and if the things don't come to my house? I live in Europe and the seller is from USA, so is very easy to get scammed. Can I ask a refund with paypal? How hard is to get a refund and what I should do "help me" if I need a refund?

paypal leans very favorably on the side of the buyer. You are usually protected unless the seller cleans out the account and abandons it before you can make a complaint. You are just as safe buying used items with paypal as you are buying used ones. Theres always a chance to get scammed though, so use your judgement. Usually if something sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

In order to get a refund you just need to file a complaint with paypal. The option will be listed on the transaction details I believe.

He is completely WRONG! Unless you are buying on eBay, there is NO buyer coverage on Paypal. Unless you are paying with your credit card, and can file a dispute with your credit card...you are screwed.

I think you just pulled that out of your ass dude because actually it is you that are mistaken. Read for yourself.

The buyer protection is exactly the same as ebay. Has nothing to do with using a credit card or not.

Nope, I have tried to use buyer protection before when I didn't buy off of Paypal, they don't offer it. As long as it is mailed, they don't cover anything else. Say you get mailed a blank envelope, they don't cover that stuff. The credit card thing is to file a claim with your credit card...

I'm not gonna argue with you as I have learned that some people are just hard headed. My ex wife used to just pull stuff completely out of her ass and claim it as fact. I got rid of her pretty quick. You obviously didn't bother to check the link and read what paypal has to say about it. I'm not gonna waste my time qouting it because it would fall on deaf ears anyway, kinda like with the ex wife I kicked to the curb. But hey if that's the way you want to go through life, be my guest.

That being said, I think anyone who has ever sold in any volume through paypal knows the risk associated with it for sellers. I personally run several thousand a month through them and it's always in the back of my mind that one bullshit complaint will freeze my account. That's why so many people steer clear of accepting it as a payment form.

You would be the first person I have ever heard to say that paypal leans more favorably with the seller. But tell ya what, why don't you just stay true to form and make some more empty arguments based on nothing more than whim and thin air. I won't argue back. I'll go one further, because this is what you want to hear, wrong or right. Like I used to tell the ex when I got tired of her flapping her lips...You're right. You win. Enjoy.

Paypal does lean for the seller if it ISN'T on eBay...here: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Disputes-and-claims/Seller-sent-me-an-empty-box/td-p/198322

Seems like you are the idiot here...

It figures you didn't even read the entire forum post that you posted as your proof. Can we say attention deficit disorder? But like I said, you win. You're so cool.

I guess you have never been scammed that way either...as long as it is shipped, there is no protection, you can even email Paypal...you sound like those douchebags who have no friends and are always trying to prove everyone wrong even if you are wrong.

I think your projecting yourself onto me a bit there. I said you win. Lets be friends. You have your opinion and I have the facts. Pretty simple, nothing worth getting bent out of shape about. I'm not afraid to admit that me and 10,000,000 other paypal sellers are wrong. I mean hey, you proved your point right? I think we all learned something valuable here today, don't you? So what do ya say? Put er there pal.
