Since my all new sites are on bing and yahoo on #1 or #2 for my desired keyword but #8-#12 on google,I was wondering does ranking on yahoo and bing drive any good traffic to the sites?

Currently I'm only getting around 20-30UV/Day for 3k global searches keyword.

If you can forget about 10-15% of targeted traffic then it's obvious. If you can monetize this 10-15% go do some seo for bing. It also depends what your website offers...

Primarely focus on the big G.

It depends on the search volumes. Yahoo is now using the same data from Bing.. I have one of my sites ranking #1 for about 5 keywords, problem is, searches come far and in between. Also from what I noticed, it was easy to rank my emd site on Bing (just under a month and it moved to #1 spot). Focus on Google, but also keep an eye out on Bing. Although I think if your SEO is focused towards Google, Bing will automatically move up as well.

In my experience yahoo and bing traffic is nothing compared to google. Of course your traffic will depend on how big the search volume is for your keyword over-all. But from some #1 search terms that I have that pull thousands of visitors a day from google vs those same #1 search terms in Bing/Yahoo the traffic is minuscule.

Bing and Yahoo traffic is nothing compared to google traffic. Don't waste your time on them, just focus on google.

Lets put it this way, if you were not ranked with Bing or Yahoo you wouldn't get those extra 20-30 UV's a day. Thats 9000 less visitors to your site for the year. Now you tell me if its worth it to rank on Bing or Yahoo.

Also the 3k global searches you are talking about is from Google probably, not Yahoo or Bing.

Don't listen to the idiots in this thread so far telling you to forget it. Big numbers don't mean anything unless they are on your paycheck. Think about what sort of people are the ones using Yahoo and Bing for a second. In a lot of niches, that 10-15% Bing/Yahoo traffic flow is worth more than all the Google traffic there is. Besides, they're easy to rank, just do what you're doing trying to get up on Google, and most of the time you'll take really good positions on Yahoo & Bing without even thinking about it.

I had a website with 4 different keyword searches of 2000 - 4000 that all ranked on the first page of Yahoo and Bing, but not on the Big G. I only got about 5 visits a day.

The Big G should be your goal. Thats where the bulk of the traffic lies.

In general everyone targets big G but mostly then bing and yahoo will follow. To help this get listed in the yahoo / bing directories.

For one of my niche sites I am getting nearly all my traffic from bing and yahoo and earning a nice packet. The CTR of my adsense on that site is through the roof compared to my other sites. Maybe yahoo and bing users like to click ads ;) but I doubt it.

Like I said, try to imagine what demographic of people use Bing/Yahoo. I'll give you a hint, they aren't savvy internet users...

I can't speak for him, but I think what he meant is basically the average joe that does some facebook, uses the browser that came installed on their computer and thinks that they have to use bing because bing is from microsoft and that is what is compatible with their microsoft windows 7 home edition. These are the people who fill out long cpa offers so they can get a cheat for farmville and install the "Xvid codec" that they need to watch streaming football in their browser.

Exactly. They're dumb. They aren't savvy to the ways of the internet. They are ripe for the picking. Take digital goods for an example. The average Google user probably knows very well that he can go out and download whatever the hell he wants for free. He more than likely knows where to find it, and how to get it fast, because they understand the way the internet is.

The people who are using Bing or Yahoo, a lot of the time, are using it because it is the default search engine in their browser when they buy a new computer. They might pay their bills online, do some emailing, check out Facebook, and onc ein a while search for some stuff they're interested in. They are internet idiots. They haven't been trained to instinctively ignore ad blocks, they may have heard of online piracy but they don't know exactly how to go steal your digital product, they haven't seen a million content blockers already, and they might not be so quick to catch the slick tricks internet marketering tricks that the rest of us have figured out ages ago. Yahoo/Bing users are generally older, first computer buying, don't really understand the net, click your ppc ad, fill out your email submit, signup for ridiculous free trial offer, optin to your email list, credit card having fools. So soak it up.

They may make up 1/10 of your traffic, but in a lot of cases, they are 10x more likely to get suckered into your retarded offer. I would gladly fork over all my organic Google traffic for half that volume in Yahoo/Bing traffic in most cases.

Basically bing/yahoo users are the ones with a million toolbars installed on their browsers.

The question is how the hell do you even target bing/yahoo?

I am on top positions in Yahoo/Bing and i never do a sch1t about it. All i got is exact domain. The domain is much more important for yahoo/bing compared to Google. The traffic is poor, but convert very well. The google users become too smart our days, which is not very good for us.

I get no traffic from Bing and very little from Yahoo. So if you want little or no traffic to your site you should definitely focus on ranking on those. :22:
