SORRY IN ADVANCED BUT IM SUPER NOOB.

I want to dabble with a churn-and-burn campaign and to me, it makes more sense to do it on a 2.0 property instead of having to buy a domain and hosting service for a site that's basically temporary.

Has anybody had success ranking a 2.0 property for affiliate marketing? Is it a common strategy? Is it possible to rank your 2.0 as a T1 to drive affiliate sales or does google make it more difficult to rank 2.0s?

Thanks :)

I was wondering this too actually. I feel like it couldn't be that easy, right? Otherwise, I would image that we would see a TON more 2.0 properties appearing in search results. As it is now, I rarely stumble across 2.0's when I'm on google.

On the other hand... Since your domain authority would already be so high (right?), I suppose that any google penalties would be much less severe?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Too bad I didn't get any responses. Do you think I should post this thread somewhere else on BHW?

It would act as a parasite. So yes you don't need as good quality links and it would rank alot faster.

But there's a downside.
#1. If you ever want to sell your affiliate site, I doubt you could sell it if it was a web2.0

#2. People wouldent trust a site like tumblr, wix, blogger etc.
If I'm a searching I'm gona click on a regular domain rather than a web2. 0

Could be useful for testing purposes/ applying new SEO skills. That way if I fuck up, I don't lose monetary investment!
That's crazy, I was going through this same EXACT thought process yesterday. I was about to put in my credit card info for BlueHost, but then decided it would be cheaper to just try to rank a YouTube video and get my strategy down that way. In this regard, I suppose ranking a YouTube video would be easier than ranking a 2.0 property, but similar? (Because Google=YouTube). Practicing on a 2.0 would be closer to ranking an actual site.

One more thing I just thought of.

Why couldn't you still buy a domain name and (in the case of a Wordpress 2.0), just domain map it to your 2.0 property? I would assume that in the search results you would see the domain name instead of the Wordpress subdomain? This way you wouldn't have to pay for hosting, PLUS you get the high DA of Wordpress, etc.?
