Someone just called my cell.. from a restricted number and said
"hello is this <my name>" (obviously did a whois on my domain)
    i said
    "speaking - whose this?"
he then tells me "can i get you to stop using fraudulent referers?"
    i asked again "whose this?"
he says "what your doing is illegal"
so I said "ooOoO im from the internet and Im anonymous too"
he obviously got pissed and said "so your not going to be cooperative?"
i said "tell me who you are"
he said "okay im just going to go report you to your local law agencies"

what a serious prick.. or am I the one in the wrong? tell me BHW.. who cares?

Lol, what a knob! Since you are not obtaining anything aside from PR he can't do anything to you. For you to be charged with fraud you'd have to be gaining something I'm relatively sure. If faking something on the internet could land you in jail, then they would have to build a shit load of new jails.

Good example of why its necessary to register anonymously though.

In any case where you can easily use proxies and deny internet accusations I wouldn't worry :) - I'm not a judge, jury, whatever, I don't know what the guy's capable of so I can't tell you anything, although by common sense you don't have anything to worry about. I would just stop running it on his site, and in the future use proxies. And yes, you should get private whois. His site is a micro bacteria on the internet spectrum and all available sites that you can run prstorm through.

The bad thing about PRstorm is if people like him catch you using it, they could report your site to your hosting. Obviously if that happens, you better look for a new hosting company.

Why aren't you using domain privacy?

I don't think it's so simple on his part, if you use sensible proxies then it's all too easy to dismiss any accusations as the workings of a dirty competitor. "Cover your tracks".

Remember.. for someone to call you and not identify themselves and start telling you that you are doing illegal things and to stop... that might be construed as blackmail. He wouldn't identify himself or what you were doing.. right?

If you must talk to a lawyer and tell them what happened.. you might ask them if that can be treated as attempting to blackmail you.

I'm not a lawyer but I have seen these situations before.

did this guy tell you his site address?
let's use prstorm to storm his site:):)
next time, use vcc to buy a domain, drop a get paid by minute or per call adult phone number on your domain contact info, then start your prstorm

Im not sure i agree with this

If i tell you that i will call police because i belive you are breaking the law, thats not blackmail since its the court that later decides if you did break the law or not

If i tell you that to stop doing it or else i will put a knife in your heart, that is blackmail and illegal since its a direct threat to your fysical health and that statment gets me in troubble

but just scare you with contacting police is not blackmail

The threat of jail could be construed as a perceived physical threat. Who wants to go to jail and meet bubba in the shower? And if you aren't breaking the law then you might be able to spin it as blackmail. Where is Alan Shore when you need him....
