Is posting large amounts of comments considered spam by law, or is spam only the sending of emails?

While searching for some answers on G, I found some websites claiming that its a form of speech.

    What do you guys think?

I would only class them as spam if they wern't relevant, continually
trying to push a product or useless comments to increase your post count
    like "thanks".

I don't think that "comments" are included in the scope of the law, because of the language of the Can SPAM Act, which uses the term "commercial electronic mail message".

    A "comment" isn't "mail".

However, I'm not sure if there has ever been a court case to set a precedent or not, so I'm not 100% sure what a court would decide. But I THINK that the law will have to be rewritten, and the language changed, for comments to be considered SPAM.

    legally speaking: no
common sense would dictate though if you are making comments to promote or build backlinks then yea, theyre spam.
