Depending on the terms, you could substitute words with different synonyms as google looks at synonyms.

Of course it's possible. You just need more backlinks. ;)

    Try this:
    Code:
    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=click+here

The first #1 ranking url is:
    Code:
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Go to that URL and find if the phrase: "Click here" ... You found nothing right? ;) Because people are linking to them with keyword "Click Here" for example: This site need Flash 10. Click Here to Download.

Anchor Link and it will happen

some of my tier 1 backlink pages rank for competitive keywords because I have backlinked them with tier 2 links. Those pages have dont have anything to do with that keyword (no title, no description).

Yes, it's possible. It's also possible to crawl five miles to work every day too, but why would you do it when there are easier ways?

In a competitive niche it's almost impossible to rank well with backlinks alone. Besides, if you're trying to rank for a copyrited word, chances are the people who own it will get all the traffic if they have a site. For example, if people are looking for "McDonalds", mcdonalds.com will almost always be the first result and people won't have to look any further.

Maybe it's a better idea to try ranking for terms relevant to the copyright ? Using McDonalds as an example, terms like "burgers", "fries" and "fast food" would all be relevant.
