i know google is now againts over optimization. my competitors are even ranking for a keyword that is nowhere to be found on their page, only on the title. also, the title don't have the correct arrangent of the keyword, but all the words can be found on the title.

my question is, will it still matter if you have your site optimize for each of the factors like H1, bold, meta title, meta tags, picture name, alt, etc? or what really matters most now in onpage optimization?

hope someone can enlighten me on this.

rep and thanks will be given :)

Having the wrong stuff Onsite can certainly hurt you, we now know that. I removed all Title and ALT tags from all images and links. I also rel=nofollow all affiliate links as well as anything I didn't want to link juice to such as repeated links to the same internal page. I re-wrote Meta Title and Descriptions to be short and sweet - without trying to add in various synonyms. I removed extra usage of keywords throughout the content as well.

By just doing that I have seen my rank for my main keyword go from #11 to #2. No if I can clean up my anchor text profile I'll probably be #1 again.

Yes, there are many sites with irrelevant content but rank very well in the SERP, but it's very risky because Google is against them. I do the basic onsite SEO :)

I agree with VHSEO, doing basic SEO should be the foundation of what you do for yourself or your clients.
