or, useless at all? I mainly build links using nofollow, but I found more and more sites use nofollow now. should I also use nofollow links too?

Yes, no pagerank from that domain is going to be passed on to you but there still worth something.

Yes, it is. It will still drive traffic to your site by people clicking on your link.

but, from seo point of view, does it worth the effort? from wikipedia, it sounds not worth anything, but i'm not sure I understand it correctly.

    thanks

Wikipedia may be a special case. There is evidence that links from WP (even though nofollow) may be treated specially by search engines.

Everywhere else, you should concentrate your effort on do*follow links. Nofollow links provide almost no value. If you're spending any time specifically building them, you're wasting time you could be using to build more valuable links.

Well if you have the right links even if nofollow they should help some, but the traffic thing brings up another point. If you can get the right links that will drive traffic, first that is really the point of what you want anyway, but also as far as seo is concerned traffic is also one of the factors google looks at when indexing a page. It's also going to make your backlinking look more natural. If you have massive amounts of backlinks and very few of them are nofollow then it's obvious that the backlinking is simply from your seo campaign and not due to real popularity.

It's always good to mix in some no*follow links. This way your whole backlinking process looks more natural, and that's what Google is looking for. BTW, the same for links with anchor text. Make sure some of your links have no anchor text.
