Instead of writing everything out, I took a screenshot of Market Samurai.

    It's attached to this post.

The second site on the list is mine (obviously), but these are the first few sites on page 1 of Google for my keyword.

Is there any hope of me beating these guys out. They are all aged and have tons of backlinks, though their page backlinks aren't that great. I'd be happy with a #3 spot though. Keep in mind, my site's url does not have the keyword in it. It's a brandable name instead.

you will want to match what some of the other sites have - about 15k backlinks and 40 .edu / .gov backlinks - I wouldn't try to do all of that in the first week, but if you build up to it, I'd say in a couple of months you could get there.

I am sure there are some here who could do it in a few days, but slow and steady wins the race ;)

Look at the number 2 ranking site...that should give you some indication of what is possible. Ideally though, you want to be at number 1.

How you approach this depends on your specific goal eg are you in it for the short or long term. I tend to give my sites a quick blast to get them going and then add links slowly and regularly over time,

15k backlinks seems like an impossible feat to me.

I really like this niche, but I think I'll have to pass >_>

1st position definitely looks like an autoblog or some serious blackhatter behind it. 15k links and domain is less than 1yr old. Personally I'd go for it, domain is $10, few hours of putting website or autoblog together. If I wouldn't succeed I'd loose $10 and moved on.

It's always possible, for clients I can put up 2000 links per month indexed I charge them a $1 per indexed link there some great link builders here in the services section...

you are probably looking at $2000 in services here to get there, is it worth it? don't know. the new webmaster tool in google shows the impressions now which hugely changes the game...

You should really delete that picture, blacken out the sites better, and then re-upload. I can read them very clearly.
