My paypal was limited some days ago so I had to use my friend's paypal to receive all the money which I get. Now when I asked him to transfer, he is telling me he received an email

    Dear ________,

Hello, my name is Rex from PayPal Customer Service.

I wanted to apologize for the delay in getting back to you and I know
    that can be quite frustrating.

I understand that you are concerned about funds that were transferred to
your bank account and still not credited to the bank and I do apologize
for the inconvenience this has caused you.

To help you, I carefully checked your transactions and I can see that
you are referring to a withdrawal to your bank account ending in '___'
dated September 27, 2011 with an amount of Rs. _____ INR.

In this situation, what I did was to request for a trace (this will help
your bank to locate the funds that was transferred to them). Once we
have completed the trace, you will be receiving a trace number that you
can provide to your bank and will help them locate the funds.

I am happy to have been of assistance to you today. PayPal strives for
improvement and your support is appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Rex
    PayPal, an eBay Company

I've had almost every problem with paypal but never this one. This might be legit, but I would suggest you request from your friend to show you the email headers to see from which IP the message was sent. This should be registered to paypal.

Or just get your friend to call them to verify in your presence.

    Hey,

This message is genuine as this mostly happens due to wrong addition of bank account or some times bank credit funds on other accounts (rare, but happens). So, paypal will try to track where the money is gone.
If your friend have genuinely received this email, then don't worry you will get your funds in few days.

    I have some suggestion..

Just ask your friend the FULL Header source of the email from PayPal.
There you can examine if this email was legit

To me the e-mail just doesn't seem very genuine

but dont jump to conclusions just yet as a lot of errors can happen with paypal and it may just be a genuine error which can be sorted so you will receive your money

why dont you offer your friend a couple of $$ as a thanks for doing this. then if he is scamming you when you are offering him money for the simple of tasks it might make him feel guilty and send you your money.

Is your "friend" a online "friend" or a real "friend? Real meaning you know where he live etc. Not Offense but I would never send money to an online "friend" which live in India. I don't know why but most Indians and Nigerians are always trying to scam, not all but most

Yea this message is geniune. This is the standard paypal reply when you ask them about the fund transfer to bank account. It takes upto 1 week for the funds to get transferred to the bank account.

Just checked some mails I've received from PayPal, the style they are sending them, addresses etc.
The mail that he received is 95% genuine. I leave a 5% chance because it's possible for him to have some proficient scamming skills.
