I am making a website which I have faith in for its success, but one thing which somewhat I dont understand, is it wrong for me to be paying some freelancer to make it? Can a site succeed if someone pays another to make the site for him?

I cant code for shit, however, the vision I have is there, and everything looks and works the way I want it, but things like Facebook, Google, and other big sites come to mind. Didn't they have the founders make the site?

Is it a sin to have a successful website that was paid for, will it work, am I just overanalyzing?

It seems like its laughable, Mark Zuckerberg, did you make Facebook yourself?? I sure did, daveslaine, did you make your website yourself, "well, uhm, I didn't"..... u disgrace, get the hell out of here.

Thats what I think in my head lol.

Lol your thread made me laugh :))

You're definitely overthinking it. Not everyone can code. If you can't, get someone who can. There's no shame in that and it doesn't mean your site won't be successful. It's your vision and your idea, doesn't matter if someone else coded it.

If everyone could do everything then there would basically be no economy.

A freelancer is an employee. You're paying your employee to do work. There's no legal nor moral issues here.
The site will succeed if your vision is solid and your freelancer knows what he's doing.

If you can't code yourself then there is no shame in hiring a freelancer to do this. Once you are successfull then you can hire a team of professionals who will keep inventing new features for your site.

I want to learn coding, but since I never did as a child, and especially since computer screens, monitors, and isolation give me headaches, there's no way I could possibly code a website, and especially when I have to do both coding, and have the vision, and do the design, I get brain farts and suddenly collapse.

Of course I want to know how PHP works and how it ties in with the site, and what CSS is, and how HTML works, but I dont know how they do lol

You will pay more since you can't do anything yourself. I have a few successful sites that I didn't do any of the work myself, I've paid for every minor change.

It's never too late. With the right mindset, anything's possible.

If you can't design, there are great PSDs at themeforest to buy. Hop over to lynda and grab couple of tutorials there. You won't regret :D
