Is keyword ranking optimization using search clicks effective?

Recently, I heard a friend say that his website has done search and click to rank keywords. I don't know if anyone has used it? Will Google punish you? Is it effective to rank keywords?

There have been services like this that have been advertised on this forum and others before.

The premise is that since Google is factoring in user experience, if your content is clicked on SERP results, that you will get a boost up.

Based on what I've read here and on other forums, the jury's still out on how effective this is.

But one thing is clear, if you are in a highly competitive niche, that little bit of extra push might give you a slight competitive advantage.

Still, at the end of the day, it boils down to search intent and user experience.

Focus on making your visitors happy and everything else pretty much falls into place.
