I have a list of keywords that range anywhere from 5-10K global searches per month and 1K or less local (us) searches a month. My question is getting to the top should be fairly easy but does that also mean Ill be at the top for all the other countries that give me that global search number? Im not quite sure how google works in regards to that, if Im at the top for US and I also gonna be at the top for the other countries?

Just because your at the top in the U.S. will not mean your at the top in other countries.

You can use google insights for search to get an idea of what countries the majority of the non-U.S. traffic are searching those terms. Then use that countries google search engine ie.... google.uk or google.de to check the competition for pages ranking for those countries and see what tld's they are ranking with.

If those searches show .com, .net, ect. ranking high. Then you may be able to do so as well.

If the tld's are country specific like .uk, .de, ect. You may want to rethink those keywords.
