Currently I can only afford enough for a .info domain, and really nothing else. Can that at least help a little with my blog, instead of the ???.blogspotdotcome thing.

Is it possible to rank .info domains? Yes it is.

If you can only afford a .info domain ($1) and nothing else, does that mean you can't afford to pay for hosting right now? If that is the case, stick with the free hosted blog.

I think there is a $1 code at godaddy right now. I would get that instead of the .info.

It is possible to rank ANY domain.

That is why I started searching for short extensions and register it.

For example, I registered a zar.vg domain and now I create subdomains for all my sites like for example
    Code:
    http://wpsynit.zar.vg
    http://order-soma.zar.vg/search.php?q=order soma carisoprodol

Check the first one for the keyword 'wordpress syndicator', it's on first page of google, and that is a subdomain!!! Look at the pagerank of the pages of the site.

So please people, forget all the hype of domain extensions!!!. I can show you a lot of other domains I own which is setup this way AND rank

Thanks buddy. I remember when I started out, that I know absolutely nothing. Believe it or not, the day I found out there's a word which they call SEO, my first domain was ranking #1 on google for it's main keyword and still is no #1, with only 365 backlinks. And on top of it, it's a .co.za domain (second level for those who don't know)

So basically, what I'm trying to say here is that I don't believe in sh!t, I do that in the toilet. :pirate:

You?re definitely better off getting your own domain over a blog on Blogger. You?ll have more control over what you can do with the site when you?ve got your own domain.

But really you can first buy your domain & get your website built & then add that afterwards. It?s okay to take a little time. Spend your time putting together killer content & making your site really good while saving up for the next step.

But as far as the domain extension, you can rank for a dot info just as well as for a dot com. The real kicker is having a keyword rich domain name related to your niche so do some diligent research.

What is with people thinking that .info domains are not good? Who started this?

.info is just a good as any other TLD. I rank quite a lot of sites #1 on Google for very popular keywords with .info domains.

The misconceptions on the Internet makes me scratch my head sometimes.

    Can't agree more :)

I don't see people discussing how google is against certain TLD's. I only hear google is against dupe content. Ever heard that a site was banned because of the TLD?

I'm making $100/day on average from one of my .info's, they rank just as well as .com's.

It's all about the backlinks and content, get the .info, do it.

If you really can't afford .com stick with .info. However I have noticed that .info domains take much more time and more efforts to rank good in the search engines.

No. I do not suggest that. Right now you're going to need more money to play around with with IM. I suggest saving up more money and then coming back with some money to spare. Not all blogs make money; you might have to make several to see a good result. If you can only create one and it doesn't make money, you might get discouraged. So yeah. Save up some money :)

Man, that's nice. Anyways, if it doesn't work out. You can pick up a couple of .info domains. They're 49 cents atm @ godaddy. Go search for it on slickdeals and the thread will explain how to get it.
