I know that Yahoo answers on the first page indicates weak competition, it's not the competition that bothers me, it's the fact that Yahoo answers can be so useful for questions!

Whenever I search for an answer to a specific question, I typically click the Yahoo answers link if it's there, because I like to get a varied opinion from different people.

    Am I the only one?

Is it worth competing against it?

I usually click on it too but I keep looking as well. I did this before even knowing that Yahoo answers can sometimes be spammy etc. I always want answers from a few different sources.

Why not do a Yahoo question the same as your topic, then have it answered referring to your site? :)

Depends on the keyword. If the keyword is "how many days does it take to learn to ride a bike" then all the info needed can be found on a simple yahoo answer page, so i would skip it. But if it's something that requires a fair amount of thought and information then i would go for it even if there were a few yahoo answers pages. Outranking them really shouldnt be a problem and if it requires a lot of info it shouldn't decrease conversions.
