Is it true that you can not launch Facebook ads on your giveaway post?

I just read in one forum that you can not launch Facebook ads on your contest post, because it's against Facebook rules and you your Facebook page can be banned if someone will report your post.

Maybe someone know or it's true? Because I can not find such info on the internet.

Anyone?

I actually ran few Ads on some contests without any issues. But I can't say 100% that it's legit. They approved the Ad and didn't had any issues.
