First of all I gotta say that it feels so damn good to be back, I freakin missed this place, my last post was in july 2010 :(

Since then it's been one heck of ride, a ride in mediocrity

I started offering video creation services, in another forum to cover my life expenses because I was so desperate for money, and last year I started a website for my service and in 2012 I made about $20k in sales where about $16k was profit, it's not bad for a 20 yrs old and especially in my part of the world.

I recently sold that business, and thought that it might be a good time to jump back into affiliate marketing.

However, because of my previous business that has eaten up 2 yrs of my life, I was so caught up with clients, phone calls, projects and I wasn't even keeping up with what's happening in the industry as much as I used to be, so now that I wanna get back the whole damn thing feels and looks so strange to me.

CPA is almost dead, tried to setup some campaigns here and there in FB Ads, leadimpact and different PPC&PPV networks and the clicks are so damn expensive, and the offers aren't converting at all, unlike back in the days where fb ads were dirt cheap and CPA offers converted like hot cakes.

I thought about building a list and warm i up then launch a product, but in the last 3 years thousands of launches took place and people's emails are on tons of lists and they get bombarded by tons of promo e-mails on daily basis, there is still an opportunity in product creation but it's 10 tiles harder than it used to be.

And SEO, well let's not talk about that please

I'm not being negative, but really guys, what's happening here ? what am I missing ? what happened in the last few years and where is the big money being made these days for people with decent budgets ?

People with decadent budgets are partying with strippers on a private island right now.

    You mean decent?

The fundamentals haven't changed only the methods.

You mentioned SEO and for us that relied heavily on it and got creamed with the updates we still came through it and weeded out the ones who couldn't cut it. It's still doable you just have to go about it differently now is all.

CPA isn't dead just marketing it has changed. I'd recommend list building. You mentioned that your lists have been bombarded and you may be right but you need new fresh lists. From the sound of it you were targeting other IMers. There's hundreds of other niches out there that are ripe for the picking.

The key is getting out of your comfort zone and trying something different. You maybe starting from scratch but it sounds like you're way ahead of many people who are just getting started. Find a need and fill it.

When the Americas were first colonized good paying jobs were few and far between in England and land was hard to get a hold of because it was pricey. By moving to a colony families and privateers had a great chance to earn a living rather than staying in England. Once the settlers arrived they earned a living by farming (high commodity items like tobacco), hunting, trading and becoming business men.

Room for growth opens up room for a lot of opportunity. Most of the stuff you mentioned above IS tapped out. Find new markets that have lots room for growth and profit ;) One small example is the eCigarrettes market 2 years ago ... Find the wave and ride it. Get off your board and swim back out to catch another.

CPA isn't dead if you are the ADVERTISER and not the affiliate marketer. Also, the JUNK CPA is dead. People are ultra wary of email submits since most of the early ones they ran across are SCAMS. I still think a solid cpa service that offers a quality product from a reputable advertiser is enough to make big $$$ on if you want to go that road. If not, the game is BE SMARTER, PLAY MORE STRATEGICALLY. People thought the game industry died, but it seems to me whenever a game actually comes out and meets people's emands for quality entertainment that game becomes successful and gets a sequel. The others just fucking burn in a pile of trash.

I still do some things online domain sales, parking, marketing, email blasts, you name it. But The last 6 or so months I been working more with offline than online. I guess people are getting smarter and know not to open attachments from people they don't know.

Things are different now days, you have to work on the long term items as many kids in their 14, 15 are flooding the market and making good finds burn out in matters of days. Just look at how many Journals are open and look at the ages. You have to go where there is no kids. I'm not saying all are bad, but only a handful are good enough.

CPA isn't even dead for the affiliate, and people have been saying the general population is wising up to email submits since I joined BHW, but guess what the masses still convert. Sheep will always be sheep, you just need to tweak your technique for different herds.

It's dead for those who are stuck in a old school mentality of "scaling up" these same methods that have been rehashed on this forum a million times. For inginuitve marketers and ninja developers there is still a killing to be made.

Most of what you said isn't true OP. Clicks aren't too expensive, SEO/CPA isn't dead, it's all a mindset. If a click costs 30 cents, you need to sell that click for 40 cents. Just basic business.
