    Hey guys,

Do you guys think it's still worth it to create a site like: viralcircus, viralnova etc.
Creating unique content and get traffic with FB Ads?

I am thinking to create one, but don't know if its time wasting. And if its not, should I create a viral site for my country (Netherlands) or global (English).

Yeah, it's still profitable. I made shocktopia a few weeks ago but then got bored with it. I was running .05 ads on fbook but it was a side project. Stick with it, it gets boring quick. I think in the first week we were doing 5k-8k hits daily. If your going to rehash stories make sure you don't index them so the OG story tellers don't come after you. I was going to do an in depth guide on it but got a little busy lately.

Just looking at the Math, I don't think it's profitable. Assuming you are able to get tier 1 traffic using FB ads at 5 cents a click, you spend $50 per 1000 visitors. I'm pretty sure you would not be able to recoup that investment through adsense.

The early birds like buzzfeed, viralnova, boredpanda etc were able to build a huge fan base long back when the post reach was close to 100%. Now the reach is very low and decreasing by the month. It does not make sense investing significant money in such a venture now.

You don't consider the share in your count. Which is the base of the project. An article goes viral and boom. $100 in adsense/taboola from you $50 investment.

I think its ok if you focus on niche, not general. I see few examples, when people start niche viral website, can make some money. But it's not so easy to work on projects like that, you need to be creative, full on it. Copy/paste can work sometimes, but not method to make money...

It's was working just fine for me and my ad placement was even horrible. clickbait works and when paired with a click jacker even at 50% we had 2-3k followers with less then $50 spent and around $80 in revenue with the goal of not needing any ads after 3 weeks of likes. Too bad I got busy but my main focus is not blogs. We used a click jacker that had a pop up that stated by viewing the site you agree to like us which did not hinder anything. No complaints but then again this is a side project I put maybe 5 mins into a day.

Why didn't you hire a VA to handle your campaigns? :p

You could've used that money to fund future campaigns.

In your example he needs to have at least RPM=51$ in AdSense, this is really high and really difficult without high targeted niche.

your articles just need to be fresh and creative, not unique. you can rehash something similar to what was posted before, but you don't need to just pull from buzzfeed, etc. Scrape Google and major social network accounts for content ideas. your viral site needs to be niche focused, and couple this with a good ad campaign (focus on behavior data mining and persona metrics targeting for engagement).

Is it profitable? Yes, but it takes more time and money to get it running on autopilot.

Thanks again for the effort you guys put into the topic, great read.
What kind of niches are there possible with viral sites? Any examples of live websites maybe?

I'm going to have to agree with fxphil lol. I'm this close to moving on because it's legit so boring. But I'm probably going to end up hiring someone to write the articles for me and I'll just drive traffic to it

I don't say this to sound like some yuppie but my time even to contact an assistant is currently worth more on another project. I make a lot of sites to identify strategies for money sites and try to be ahead of the curve and this one was one of those. I got the data from it I wanted and after that was when it started getting boring. VA's are good for grunt work ;)

Ohh and for those who do not know I was targeting women over 25. 90% of the time I'd get my .05 - .06 price in there. United states and UK English only. This may work for some of you or not but just my two cents.
