    Hi there

I'm relatively new, so my apologies if this sounds like a dumb question.

Is it possible to build a large FB page for a business?

I'm trying to build a FB page to support my blog in the health and wellness vertical, but getting absolutely nowhere fast.

I made the newbie mistake of paying for 10,000 completely disengaged people (or possibly bots) from Bagladesh to like my page. None of these people have engaged with any of the content I've posted.

    Here's what I'm currently doing:

    1. Posting 4 or 5 times a day.
    2. Inviting my friends to like the page (I've only got about 150 friends... and only a handful of them have liked the page)
    3. Messaging (without any success) other pages to share each others posts.

    Here are my results:

    1. 2 or 3 page likes per week.
    2. Zero engagement on any of my posts (apart from me liking my own stuff).
    3. A massive headache and an intense feeling that I'm a complete loser (which may in fact be the case)!!!!

In hindsight, I realize I shouldn't have bought the fake likes. But any advice on what I'm doing wrong and what I might be able to do to turn things around would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

here some tips i learn in BHW:
    - joined group related to your niche
    - post viral content and share to groups
    - if the post get's good engagement, boost it using fb ads. Test it for 5-7 days 1$/day
    - invite all post like to like your page

    Target for ads
    0.005 or lower/engagement
    0.02-0.05/like

    thanks

With 10K fake profils, your page is fucked up. You can delete your page and start with fresh one.

Investing in FB today is a waste of money.

They throttle the page reach to accommodate pages who pay more. It's pay to play. If you have a large budget for marketing, then you can work FB to get your brand out there, but don't expect good ROI. Otherwise if you're investing in more followers so you can get organic traffic in the future, forget it, they limit post reach to ridiculous low levels.

Don't ever buy fake likes. Always post original content and use Facebook ads to get fans and likes. Remember that one good sponsored post can get your page a massive fan base.

Personal opinion: I think FB is dead for everything.... All the personal accounts there are just putting up an act and people are starting to get tired of it.

    But back to IM.

Promoting FB via adwords is just crazy. Promote your own site! Why would you promote somebody else's property? You don't own anything in FB.....they let you create a page that is 100% controlled by them and then you pay them money to promote THEM and then they give you very little return.

Investing in any FB property is a bad investment today IMO, from the inside or outside.

I think Twitter is a much better platform right now. At least people have courage to speak the truth on Twitter. Anyway Twitter is also moving to the FB style algorithm, no longer showing the timeline in chronological order. It's becoming pay to play too and maybe the same low organic reach will plague it soon. I hope they don't screw up.

if all the social media network will become pay to play... it would be a big loss for many of us :(

People are smart. Users are starting to demand privacy and millions have moved to DuckDuckGo.com which shows privacy is relevant. FB is gonna be scrutinized too.

    Slowly things will change.

Everyone is realizing social networks are a failure IMO, people do not get along, it's not really working to spread knowledge and enlighten people, social networks are being used as a weapon really, for politics, religion, etc....

So I think people are getting smarter. A lot of folks who used to send me shit by whatsapp are now sending by email again. Folks are getting back to basics.

    Times they are a changin'.

Thanks very much for all of the replies and advice.

FB sucks hard out. But to be taken seriously by prospective clients in my niche, I feel that I need to be there.

Would you recommend removing the 10,000 dodgy, disengaged Bangladeshi bot accounts?

And then starting again (from zero) even though it will look crap and unpopular...

Focus on posting HQ content, make this your priority. It is absolutely essential when finding your place, giving yourself a chance to stand out. Also, in my experience, posting 2-3 times daily is the sweet spot. Good luck!

No need to remove those likes from your account. Just you need to participate the FB community of your target niche like health and share your HQ trending content on those communities to get the real likes (accounts) to your page. It will be helpful :)

Thanks @kindarthur. I will leave the 10,000 fake likes in place and attempt to create higher quality content.

If you plan to make $1-$5 per day from this page in the future, then you can. If you plan to get more, then you will suffer a lot and realize that you wasted your time and money.

    Thanks @transitarea...

Are you suggesting the 10,000 dodgy likes will prevent the page from growing and should be removed?

Or are you suggesting that FB is a waste of time for new entrants and not worth the investment?

I am not an expert. If all you have now are the fake likes and only few real likes, then start over. If you have many real likes then you can keep the fake ones.

You need to read a lot and use many ways to grow your page. Paid traffic will cost you so much and it is not worth it.
