    Hello.
There is a host provider that is offering one free domain registration when you sign up for their host providing service. That's a nice offer and they will register it in my name, ect.
My question is, if I do that, will I actually own and be able to transfer that domain name (if necessary) in the future?
Or, is it safer to register at namecheap, or a similar site?
    Thanks.

You can later on transfer it, though you will want to read through the terms the hosting provider gives you and look for the possible catches like 'you must pay for two years of hosting' or 'this domain most be renewed via us'. There are rarely any conditions like this, but it is possible. If no such catch exist you can happily transfer it to Namecheap.
