Is it required to have different adsense accounts for different youtube channels?

I have read that its better (safer) to have different adsense accounts for different youtube channels so that if one gets penalized, the other one will keep running
But Google is smart enough to find out that two adsense accounts belong to same person
So what do you guys recommend?
