    Hi BHatters.

I came across some keyphrases that have decent search amount and have TLD's (.com,.net & .org ) all available.

I was planning on knocking out a quick review site and the ususal backlinking stuff to get good rankings.

The keyphrases are based on actual products (example= PINK APPLE iPHONE 300GB ) and was just wondering if it is actually possible to rank for keyphrases like this.

I read on another thread on BHW that if a user types in actual product names then google is likely to display shopping sites such as amazon, kelkoo etc etc rather than a niche/review site.

Anyone got any similar experiences of trying to get a content based/niche/review site ranked above a shopping site?

What is the PR and the backlink count for the ranking shopping pages? Do they have proper on-site SEO?

well not the answer to your question but if there are product names in it, i would probably stay away due to possible trademark issues in the future. and no, you wont be able to outrank shopping sites or the original product manafactures page.

For long tails yes because the pages mostly will not have backlinks.

My view point to this is:

-> If you have a brand new domain, it would just take to long. So that means -> Use Web 2.0 properties, and better not some where you get the subdomain, rather something like Squidoo.

If the product site doesn't have many links to it, and ranks just from On-Page SEO, and domain authority, you can outrank it pretty well.

Just keep in mind when using Squidoo, that they can ban your lens whenever they want.
