    Say I am the owner of two different websites web1.com and web2.com with the alexa ranks 100k and 10k respectively.
    Now is there any way to transfer or improve web1 's rank using web2 's traffic?
    of course I can redirect web2 to point to web1 but that is not what I want as I really want to keep the contents of both websites, one way I was thinking of is to move web2 to be a subdomain of web1 something like
    web2.com --> sub.web1.com
    this way I still have both websites valid but the only thing I am not sure about it, is the traffic of a subdomain counts toward the main domain, I asked this question before but have not got a clear answer yet...

    thanks for your help

    correct, I can add banners on web2 which should help web1 's alexa rank but the main idea here is to consider ALL visitors of web2 to be counted toward web1 with keeping both of them valid, here is a way to do that

    just move web2.com to be something like sub.web1.com, this way you have both websites valid as below

    www .web1.com # for web1
    sub.web1.com # for web2

    and visitors on either websites above will be actually a visitor of web1.com, now the question is: do hits on sub.web1.com affect alexa rank of the main domain web1.com ?

    Set up a script on web2 to check for all alexa toolbar users by the useragent. If they are a toolbar user, do a hidden iframe of web1 on web2.

    Use an iframe to load the second site. Or use onload javascript fuction to pop the second site when the first site is loaded.
