I recently bought a .com domain with a combination of two very generic keywords and a broad search of half a million ppl. I have big plans for this domain and i'm trying to figure out how to pimp its age without actually waiting years.

I'v read in two e-books that i could buy a aged domain and have it transferred under my ownership. Upon becoming the owner I can 301 redirect to my current brand spanking new domain and the age will be adjusted by Search Engines in a few months.

    Any truth to that?

Here's my advice for what it's worth. Most people neglect the power of keywords in subdomains.

    1. Focus on the domain that you bought rather than the new domain. It has age and links.

    2. Set up a subdomain under that old domain using the keywords that you are targeting. For example, if the old domain you have is smith.com and you are going after free rap music as your target search term, then create the subdomain freerapmusic.smith.com Setting up a subdomain is a 40 second job if you have cPanel hosting
    3. Put some relevant and unique content on both smith.com and freerapmusic.smith.com
    4. Put some links between smith.com and freerapmusic.smith.com, but not the other way around
    5. Get some external links to freerapmusic.smith.com from external sites through whatever means - blog comments, forum posts, link directories, article submissions and so on.
    6. Wait 6 - 8 weeks and see what happens.
