I apologize if this is in the wrong section of the forums, but I really didn't know where to put it. Anyways, to get on the topic.

I have a family member that is a talented painter but that talent isn't being used to gain any profit, so I was thinking if it could be possible to earn money from selling art online? I can't link her work since I've just joined this community and it doesn't allow me to post links.

But, my questions is this. Would it be possible to paint for example 3 pictures and sell them each for 50?? Then repeat that process every month. I'm just looking here for someone who had experience with this, and is it actually worth investing your time in. Also, how long does it take for a picture to sell?

If any of you could link a website that you had good experience with could be of great assistance.

We are from Serbia, and unfortunately we can't receive paypal payment :/

Yes, there's a old guy selling his small paintings on Ebay. Don't ask me his name, I can't remember. But he was selling quite regularly. Key point here is originality and recognisable style. His was childish looking stick figures of people walking at winter town streets.

Another profitable art gig on Ebay is painting (later can sell prints of those paintings) and selling ACEO cards. Some of them sold for quite a nice sums.

Edit: Sort out Ebay search for sold finished auctions for ACEO cards by marking - # Sold listings

    Sort: Price: highest first

Definitely a lot of potential in this. It's a competitive market but if the style is original and people like it they will buy.

As mentioned check out DeviantArt. Great platform for artists.

Well I knew about deviantart, but didn't realize you could sell traditional art there too, thought it was only digital art. Thanks for all the helpful replies guys, we will give it a shot and see if it works :D

ANYTHING is possible. (especially in today's era)

Rather than asking "is it possible..." you're best bet would be HOW or WHAT are some ways to go about it.

Nobody on this forum can tell you yay or nay if they haven't done it themselves (or have witnessed it online) Even then still, their experience is not necessarily what your's may or may not be.

This is a forum about Marketing and BH , etc. you need to ask questions like these directly to the those who do what you aspire to do. As it will provide a framework for a model .

Most of all give it a try yourself. It's VERY likely that what you have in mind is possible, as humans have only valued painting and art for thousands of years...

    Good Luck Dude

This is a question you will BEST answer for yourself by trying & testing.
DON'T LISTEN to doubters... see for YOURSELF

It`s a bit hard to sell art if You`re not well known painter.
Anyway, You must try. It`s very important to present his art with high resolution images; make some presentation on YouTube as well; put some info here and there, so let when the people google for the painter could find some trusted info for him (as a painter).

    Good Luck!
