Is it possible to get my domains back directly from registrar?

So I did make the mistake of registering my domains via my hosting provider, and not registering them directly to myself. Now that my hosting provided goes down more frequently than a cheap hooker, I'd really like to move my sites over to my new host. However, they've never replied to me about the EPP keys. So I'd like to know, is there any chance in contacting eNom directly and asking them to switch the domains over to my eNom account (that I'd create)? Has anyone had any success in this kind of venture?

Without the permission from your current provider you can't do anything.

I've had trouble unlocking and transferring over quite a few domains during the great "Anti-SOPA GoDaddy" emigration a while back. There's nothing you can really do to force the host transfer over the domains (depending on the company), however you can have your new host (that you buy a transfer from) assist you with the process. Have you already chosen a new host and bought a domain transfer?

My advice - Call your host/registrar. Go to the "Sales/New Customer" department, they'll usually answer the phone quickly. Say "Sorry, meant to ask for technical support" and get transferred over to them. Once on the phone, get your domain's EPP. This is assuming you know the process to transferring a domain.

    Hope that helps!

I have new hosting provider, but naturally have not bought any transfers since I don't get the EPP-keys from my current hosting/registrar. And no worries about getting hold of these guys via phone, so I guess I just need to endure them for a year, and then re-register my domains elsewhere...
