Is it possible to get favorites banned? User won't get notified when tweet is favorited?

If one were to hang out watching a hashtag stream and 'favoriting' every tweet in the hashtag stream, would twitter stop notifying that user that you favorited them? Or perhaps get you banned?

Only if you do it too fast. So slow your roll/randomize your roll, and you're good.

hm, so it is possible then...

The hashtag stream I'm watching doesn't get a lot of action but I think if I ONLY favorite on that stream that would be suspect.

@josepdx - Yeah I thought of that but was thinking that could cause extra exposure so thought against it

You're right that it would be a unique "footprint," but I've seen no evidence that they track/limit based on variety. However, they do track/regulate based on pace + quantity. So if you go too fast or fave too much, you'll at the very least get cut off for at least the hour, possibly the day.

Another thing to watch is to make sure you're not faving the same users over and over. People generally like to get faved. But if they notice the same account keeps faving them and doesn't follow them or otherwise interact in a normal way, they could block you/report you for spam.

I'm pretty careful, I only fav about 5 tweets a day and never the same people or all the tweets on the hashtag stream. My goal is to get the attention of people and have them visit my twitter profile and then visit my site which has been working so I know i haven't been banned or restricted.

I know 5 a day doesn't seen like much but once they get to the site they have been sharing it via social buttons on so it has been successful to get traffic and free membership signups
