I see a really good deal on a watch i want to buy and was wondering if it is possible for fakes to be sold on Amazon?

Off the top of my head, there are a lot of knockoff headphones claiming to be Samsung (the quality is actually pretty good for a $5 pair) but they are definitely knockoffs, even other consumers leaving ratings say it. I would not be surprised if your watch is either. Unless it's shipped by Amazon and not a third party dealer you should watch out.

Fakes are sold on Amazon just as much as they are sold on Ebay (OK maybe not as much but near enough)
As for the Watch, it really depends on the make and what the usual RRP is.
Half price doesn't tell us a lot but if you are spending under $100 then you should at least get a watch that works and it should last at least a year. If you are after a luxury watch then use caution. If I am buying something valuable for myself I tend to buy retail, although I have picked up the odd bargain that may or may not have slipped off the rear of a large vehicle.

Well just ordered it...now hopefully it all goes well. Had the cash in my hand to buy it in the store the other day but was undecided and the sales lady pissed me off. If this is real then I saved myself alot of cash. Now fingers crossed that its legit!

Actually, the above people are all wrong.

To get approved to sell watches on amazon, you have to request permission from Amazon. Amazon then interrogates you about your source of watches, the UPCs, looks at your past feedback and stuff, and bans people pretty much right away if any red flags go up. There are a couple categories like this on amazon, I know watches and jewelry are two of them,

And if its fake Amazons return policy is amazing.

I'm a seller on amazon working on my approval process completed. BTW if you want a watch I may be able to hook you up with real ones for a discount ;P.

Yes, I stand corrected, Watches and Jewellery DO require pre-approval:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=14113001
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo.../190-2525410-9276661?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200829330

Having said that, what safe guards are there against somebody receiving approval and the selling fakes?

Welllllllllllllllllll...People do get around selling fake watches by putting them in a non invitation only category. I was a Pro Merchant for years and jewelry was and still is by invitation only. I was invited to be a merchant. (I call selling on Amazon the hell years) They are strict in the jewelry category. Merchants will get kicked off if they get too many complaints about fake watches. But if you put rolex watch into Amazon's search, 23 categories come up for results. That's how people get around the invitation only categories.

I dunno but I will report back. I got a bad feeling since the deal was so good. Shit

You're not going to know if it's real unless you open up the back of the watch. I don't do watches. I do jewelry but never had a desire to do watches. My friend will open them for me if I get them in with boxes of estate jewelry. Take the watch to someone you know who is skilled in the field and have them open it for you.

Yes, there are some companies selling china made fake watches on ebay and Amazon.
You can check the Originality of the watches through two things. Original Watches comes with Two years of Manufacturer warranty Internationally.

Duplicate/replica watches comes with Seller One year Warranty.

And On Original Watches you can Find Hardly 30 to 35% Discount. And other watches offering with more than 40% discount i am sure that Majority are Fakes.

If you sell fake your refund rate will be high and Amazon will F**k you.

I doubt you'll last long with Amazon like that, unless if your more upfront and got nothing to hide like: Fakes being sold here buy it or foff...

Watches sold by Amazon are not fake. Watches sold by independent merchants operating on the Amazon market-place are really, really, really not going to be fakes, but you never know. If such a watch did turn out to be fake I am sure Amazon would be diligent in preserving your rights and their reputation.

i had a friend try sell a bracelet on amazon that looked like a well known designer bracelet... not only did he have tons of refunds and chargebacks...but he got sued by the manufacturer of the original...
