Is it okay to have the word KINDLE in the domain and is it okay to distribute kindle ebooks with reserved rights for free in case I built a site with such a subject.

    Anyone?

As long as you don't use your amazon affiliate link on the pages it will probably be OK.

I had several domains with Kindle in name and Amazon were very gentlemanly paying me to buy them back.

    Great company !

Someone here actually guessed correctly and registered a domain with "kindle fire" before it was announced and they were eventually contacted by Amazon's lawyers.

From what I understand (might be wrong though) any product domain is ok if you put 'review' behind it, or 'sucks'..........Paypal tried VERY hard to get this taken down.

Been there, Amazon will track you down and give you a C&D. They will pay you the registration fee but that's it. I had more luck with Apple.

No it's not ok and they're very strict about this now. They've even shut down most facebook pages with the word "kindle" in the page name. Don't do it bro they'll shut you down. A lot of guys got away with that stuff for a while but those days are over.

This is correct.. Like paypalsucks been up for years and years and never been taken down and we all know how paypal would love and tried so hard to get it taken down.

If your profiting directly off the name then yes they can take it down. if you put sucks or review etc before or after "kindle" or even like "Ilovemykindle" etc then they cannot take as you are not infringing, something like that

So yes you can use the word

In general, if you are using an obviously trademarked term in your domain and the owner is aggressive about protecting it, you will get worked over by their lawyers. If you are prepared like the paypalsucks site to fight it regardless, go ahead, otherwise avoid unneeded litigation battles and use a different term.

This is wrong man. I work with kindle and I'm very familiar with a lot of the sites associated with promoting, marketing etc. and all of the websites with the word kindle in them were forced to change their name. If you aren't interested in using Amazon to monetize the site, then yes I'm sure you could get away with it in some situations. But if you plan on getting paid by Amazon for your kindle related site, it doesn't matter how you twist it, if you use the word 'kindle' in your domain they're going to make you change it guaranteed.

You just agreed to everything I stated guy! I said as long as he did not plan on making money off the word Kindle, thus why paypalsucks is still around

I had a .net for a year that made money using adsense with kindlefire in the name. Never was contacted by Amazon.

That's because you were monetizing with adsense. If you had tried to monetize with amazon they would have contacted you almost immediately to make you change it.

The bottom line is it is a trademarked name. Maybe you will get caught or maybe you wont. But you will never be able to sell it legitimately for example on Flippa.

It's ok as long as it's not profitable due to the name, if your intention is to sell from amazon or other ebooks for kindle, then I would suggest to stay away,

Just to be on safe side avoid using Kindle in domain name. You can be innovative & keep name like Kindly / Kindloo etc which would also go well with your visitors.
