Hello friends,
One of my known tells me if you want to rank in the USA(.com) then do not make backlinks on other countries' domain extension, for example, .fr .co, .in, .de, etc.
Is this true?
Please guide me...

People who want to make their business function globally then it's better to use .com and also who have customer from all over the world. .Com is the best TLD for target US users and globally. If you only want to target a particular country than its better to with .us domain.
Other tlds like .fr will also work if it has high DA and trust factor.

Yeah... the two answers above are not based on any kind of testing.

Focus on the .com since you'll want links from English speaking sites in your target market but a good quality link on a .fr or .co.uk etc... isn't going to hurt you.

Yes if it is only for the USA. .com will be best.

Here is what i have found

if you want to rank in france, you should have MAJORITY of your backlinks from IP's in france. If you don't then your ranking will get hurt, specially if your competitor has majority of their backlinks from IP's in france.

so the same logic if you want to get ranked in US. majority of your backlinks needs to come from IP's inside US.

I have found this to be a good correlation of my logic

take a look at the country widget at the bottom of the page, right hand side. it shows u the % of backlinks from different countries.
