Hello. I have a software project which I'm going to start selling soon. I have created a few short videos (20 - 30 sec) and one longer video (90 seconds) to show it in action on the front page. Each video is in a section and copy describing each section is next to it. But I made the videos with no sound. I think it is perfectly fine, to have these short videos mute, they are more like gifs.

But I wonder whether it is ok to have the longer video with no sound? I mean of course it would be better to have it voiced, but I have no resources, I'm not a native speaker and it would take me a lot of time to produce something that wouldn't be off putting. When I make some money I will hire a professional. Again, everything is described in text copy next to the video. But my concern is that a viewer will click the play button and expect sound while it only be moving picture.

Overlay the video with this:

Haven't thought about background music. Thanks.

definitely no ! people get bored easily if they don't hear sound and skip your video

Why dont you find some voice offer at fiverr, i can find many good voice offer seller with nice price.

The answer to most questions in IM is the same - "Try it and see what happens."

It will probably perform better with sound but you will never know until you try it.

You'll prob have better response/conv. rate if you had subtitles talking about what they are seeing. Those are always handy on Fb videos since they always start out muted anyway.

Have you considered maybe using fiverr? I hate videos without sound and usually click it off. I really don't go to youtube to read videos.

it could worked 5 years ago, now is not a good choice to create a no sound video: please, find a good quality music at audiojungle for cheep and it will make the difference!

Sound is Necessary, Not necessarily music.
You can use bird chirping, waterfall etc.

I personally do not like when videos which are started automatically performs with sound.
I mean video should be with sound, but by default that should started with no sound and there is should be an option to switch sound on.
In regards to the sound : if you are not native speaker you can always hire someone and pay for reading text with good English and have it used in your videos.

Adding sound is not difficult. You can do a voice overlay, or music or both.
If you do both music and voice make sure the music isn't drowning out the voice.
Many TV shows make that mistake. Even text to speech with a decent voice
is better than silence. Silence usually drives people to think there is something
wrong with your video, so they leave sooner.

I assume that should have sound.
But.
There is should be an option to switch that off or switch that off.
