I read in various threads that people have fake twitter accounts, which will be banned by twitter. As a webmaster running several websites, is it officially allowed by twitter to have several accounts (official accounts for each website)? These are not fake accounts. May twitter ban accounts because they are run by a single person?

you can even register more accounts on one gmail account by putting dots inbetween the name.

Strictly the T&C's say you cant have multiple accounts for the "same person" so technically it is within the limits, all be it having to use a new email address for every twitter account.

If you really want to do this, setup a cheap domain with pop3 on it and just forward all of the email accounts to a single pop3 that you can see. You'll get tired of the spam from twitter in any case lol.

you can have any number of accounts. But try not to use all the accounts at the same time from the same ip.
It might result in all your accounts getting banned.

it gets better, you can also add +some_number to your usename, e.g. john.doe+123@gmail.com
I was using this trick to register thousands of throw away twitter accounts, they lasted like 12 hours :D

    With respect, that's rubbish.

If that were the case, people who log into their account in a public place such as a library or an internet cafe, would be in the brown stuff, as their IPs will no doubt have 10s or 100s people logging in every day.

The only 2 things that I've found has resulted in accounts being banned are:

1: Unfollowing too many people in a too shorter space of time - this is an automatic Twitter ban if you step over the mark.

2: Creating too many Twitter accounts on the same IP in a single day - not experienced this but know of colleagues who have.
