I've been reading some articles that states that paid blog posts with do-follow links could be harmful because they will pull down the PageRank. I'm asking this because I want to submit my blog to various get paid to blog sites such as SocialSpark but I am still hesitating. I am afraid that by doing so, the posts will only devalue my blog. :(

If you dip into this well too many times it can drop PR, but honestly, if the paid content is making good money you have to factor in the PR risk as part of cost/benefit. I know bloggers who get almost all of their income from paid content.

    Officialkent,

I think if you did this sparingly you would probably be fine. The main thing you want to do is your homework on the site that you are planning to submit to. Check out their activities and their business practices. Are they on the up and up or are they more of a spammy website? Of course if you are just in it for the short term it may not matter. If however you are planning on building something meaningful over the long term, you might want to avoid paid posting all together.

This post is kind of old but it points out Google's feelings about paid posts,

    Hope that helps,
