    Hi,

I'm not sure whether it's the right forum to post this to, but I'd like to get some advice, and I didn't find a more suitable forum for this thread.

So the problem is that I'm pretty sick of dealing with these crappy free and paid WordPress themes, and would like to get a proper framework like Thesis or Genesis, but as I'm not sure whether they really are what I'm looking for, I wouldn't like to pay the full price.

I did some googling and found that there are people selling both Thesis and Genesis frameworks on Fiverr for only $5. They say that they have the developers license for the frameworks, and therefore, what they do is totally legal, but is it? What do you think? The last thing I would want is to get in trouble for using a pirated theme.

Read the terms of the developer's license at those sites and you'll find your answer.

In short; No they can't sell them legally. All developer licenses have a clause that you can't do this sort of thing.

Developer license means they can sell completed sites with the theme. It does not give them the right just to re-sell the theme.

Having said that it is unlikely you would be found out BUT you will need to check they have not added some unwanted code/links or other nasties.

If you want want the future updates and the peace of knowing your site isn't going to get hijacked then just buy your themes from the developer.

Yeah, that's what I'd do anyway, I'd just like to test drive the theme before I spend $100 or more on it.

You can do this by getting a developer license, and selling a "site" that happens to come with the theme.

If you know what I mean.

But I wouldn't bother with it, and it's unethical.
