Is it legal to bid on a competitors brand name in your adwords advertising?

    So yes pretty much as the question states, I found a blog post elsewhere that discusses pros and cons of bidding on a competitors name as your keyword, and it didn't say it was illegal or against google TOS to do that.

    I see it as if someone is walking down the street, and says to you have you seen X? and you say, yeah, but hey Y is better check it out.

    But is this OK to do?

    Its legal to use the brand name in keywords but its not legal if you use it in ads so if you some how caught doing that account banned for sure.

    Perfectly fine, however if you're promoting a PPC offer, better check if they allow that.

    Great thanks! Seems like a great idea then to be honest, i guess many people must do this.
