Is it legal for me to record my screen and then post the video on my website?

If I'm on chat roulette and I record my screen and then I post that video that's showing someone else, without their consent, would that be considered illegal?

depends on your state, some states you have to consent from the other person and some states you don't.

Alright, where would I be able to look that up? What if I'm from one state that it is allowed, then the other person is from another country/state where it isn't allowed? Is it strictly based on what my state says, since I'm the one posting the video, or does it have to comply with both parties state/countries laws?

EDIT: I see the states now, I don't know whether I missed that part or you edited your post, but thanks a lot man!

I see it says audio recording, what if it's video and audio? Like showing their cam feed plus their voice?

Yeah - it also depends on whether your video has audio of the person as well.

If putting some ones video/picture without his/her consent is illegal, same with recording your screen.

Whatever the video/photo source is, if your country has strict laws you can't escape from that. Its better to stay away from those stuffs if you don't know how to avoid your foot prints.

Well, I'm from Missour (United States) so I'm just trying to figure out if since my country/state allows this, if it would also have to comply with the other persons country/state also. What if there was no audio involved?

Best thing to do is ask a attorney, but 1 thing i can say the law is very technical there was this one case i can't remember it off hand but here's how it went down in tampa florida

There was a guy looking up this women dress and recording up under her dress in a public eating place, well the women caught him and took him to court. The guy's attorney argued that the women was in a public area and therefore she had no personal right to privacy and guess what it was a legitimate legal argument no matter how sick it was the case was dismissed. So ask attorney because like i said the law is crazy my GF is a law student in her last year and it's very technical.

Totally depends on if the person or persons are lead to believe that it is supposed to be private. If I as a personal trainer have a one on one session with a client, they are under the thinking that any recorded sessions are for private use for improving their technique. Posting them to the public without consent constitutes invasion of privacy in nearly every state. There are a few where it doe not.

So it depends what state you are physically in even if the other person is in a different state? What if you make the recording through a vps located in a different state?

That's not true, if you was a personal trainer at someone's home then yes u have "resonable expectation of privacy" however if its a business location then yes u can legally be recorded which is why i said, the law can be very technical, No business has a reasonable expectation of privacy.

I personal train at the homes of 75% of my clients. That is what I meant. I've been caught in this situation on 1 occasion before. Had no idea of the technical portions
