I've never touched that. No need to. It barely worked anyway. You can check for keywords via Google located at the bottom of the SR however.

You don't have to have a EMD. I remember that was a thing back then. You could buy a domain like brand24.com which could be a brand name. It doesn't have to be your main keyword.
However, there are other services besides Adwords that may help you with this. Semrush may work though.

GKP isn't doing any good nowadays. You can see ranking keywords in the search results anyway, just like what AceCanoe has said. You can try other free alternatives out there. :) -Micah

Yes, the ones that appear at the bottom of your page when you search for a particular keywords. The ones with the label "Searches related to" :)

I think you have to put 1$ into a campaign in order to get actual search volumes... I don't use it as much nowadays.

Even though Google is not using your keywords in your domain, it is not a bad idea to have one core keyword there. Think that Google still tries to make everything logical. If you business is about hair, and you don't have hair in your domain, is not a problem, although it makes sense to have "hair" in your domain, and eventually they can set up that rule again.

Use keywords planner. Just post one campaign, 2€/day, and you will get access to all the metrics an keyword ideas/volume.

It's the worst possible tool you could be using for keyword research. It's made to make AdWords money, and not for people to use for keyword research. Seeing big marketing blogs recommend using this makes me cringe.

Keep in mind that a lot of tools such as KWFinder will still give you the same keyword ideas, with a few more "metrics", so ultimately you want to have other ways to generate keywords and use tools to filter the bad ones out before manually going through them.
