Hey.
So i think i found some good keywords. The top positions (for those keywords)in google are occupied by pinterest boards.
Is it hard for a new website to outrank them? Or should i make pinterest boards myself and build backlinks to them?
Any advice is welcomed. Thank you.

Yes, it will be a bit hard, I think you should hijack Pinterest boards that are ranking so you can rank too and drive traffic to your money site.
and get some PBNs to Pinterest boards that can help you rank quickly.

Thank you for the fast reply. But i guess it will be better to rank my site in the long term?

Even Pinterest also could be for the long term....
check if any new site/weak site/>DA20 site ranks in top #5 then you also can rank with new site :)

The Url rating for the pages that are ranking is around 35 - i guess it will take some time to rank my site

Another idea is. Check if that rankings pinterest boad is a group board. Then get your self added to that board. And then you can start driving traffic collaboratively from the same.

You can outrank Pinterest, Quora and Google books with highly optimized content. By content, I didn't mean text as each keyword has specific content requirements.

Can't it be outranked with Pinterest?
Like buying smm service for your board and then use GSA links on it?

Yes I agree with you friend, But can you please elaborate more on the same.

Google tries their best to meet users' demands. So, if a user searches for "Netflix movie posters", a simple pinterest board or a basic blogspot blog with a lot of images will be preferred over >3000 words keyword optimized content from a high DA/DR site. We just need to figure it out to rank for certain keywords.

Thank you. This is golden information in my case!

If your keyphrase is image related then you'll have to establish some authority to beat Pinterest.

Since the last update, Google is smearing Pinterest all over the place for terms that are clearly not looking for images. So much so that even non-SEOs have mentioned it to me. I don't see Pinterest ranking like this long term because it doesn't meet the user's intent and we'd all just start mass-producing Pinterest content for longtails cluttering the SERPs up even more.

Personally, if it's not an image search I wouldn't worry about them too much. They'll likely tank after an update.

Thanks a lot for the elaborated answer. That's what we all are looking for.

So for a KW I was ranking top 3 for (and 1 for a few years) there are now 3-6 apps and then often 3 Pinterest pins on the first page. And these pins lead to spammy keyword stuffed sites that are linking to affiliates.

So for the time being Google hasn't fixed it. I notice that if I search Pinterest for the kw, the pins are quite near the top but not number 1 or even number 5.

So with that in mind is a good temporary way to rank. Anyone have any tips on making Google select a Pinterest pin for it's page 1 rankings?
