Hello everyone, can you please help me?
I'm interested in link building strategies and wondering if posting backlinks to a guest post in the comments of sites similar to my niche is a beneficial practice. The idea is to populate many comments with the link to my guest post to direct more 'SEO juice' to my own site. I suppose this shouldn't penalize my site directly since the link points to an article on another site that mentions mine.

What is the name of this practice in SEO and could you explain to me in detail whether it is effective or not? Are there any risks associated with this method of link building, particularly in terms of Google penalties or reputational impact? I'm looking for expert advice on how best to proceed with this strategy. a big thank-you

it's called tiered link building... or pyramid link building, I've heard some people calling it that too...

there are no details that need to be given because, simply put, blog comments are usually worthless. When they might be worth something is if the comment is moderated and approved and when it provides enough value that people are enticed to click on the link inside of the comment. But that's rare and like I said, blog comments in general don't help you rank. They're only good for diversifying your links and to dilute the anchor texts, and that's pretty much it.

I guess that in the end I did manage to give details lol... oh well...

none that I know of

particularly in terms of Google penalties or reputational impact?
hmm, the "reputation impact" part is tricky, I guess google could penalize your brand if enough negative comments exist. But I'm not sure, so don't quote me on this part....

But regarding the penalties I don't think they exist, at least I've not heard anyone getting penalized for having blog comment links, and especially if you're linking to a tier 1 link instead of your money site, you're pretty safe

you mean with blog comments? Simple: use them as tier 2 or tier 3 links (pretty much like you intend to do) to power up and / or index your important links. But if the guest post you talked about is not on your site I recommend that you ask the seller of that guest post first because not many people like having their pages blasted with low quality links, and if he figures out that it's you they might remove your links from the guest post :D

It is tier link building. Promoting the guest posting article will help in increasing the link juice. But don't just overdo it with low quality backlinks. As advised by @tazarbm, if the webmaster/seller figures out they will probably remove your article/link. Instead, you can use other quality links to promote them.
