I see alot of people are buying PBN links from BST as tier 2 and directing them to Web 2.0 which is tier 1. Is it a good idea to buy PBN links and use them as tier 2 to your own private blog network?

Well you can't do this an see how it goes, but I never tried that. Because for the money you buy that links you can get one more powerfull domain in your colection, and that will help you to rank better.

I'm sure they do great as tier 2 for web 2.0 properties as they are strong kind of links. But what a waste of money considering it's tier 2 links.

No they would be tier 2 links.

Money site<---private blog network<---BST blog network

Would this be dangerous for your money site or exposing your blog network?

If the PBN posts you purchased weren't properly hidden, wouldn't this penalty be passed onto your own network sites?

I'm sure your own money site would still be safe, but I think it'll screw your own network in the chance the purchased network is found.

I guess this is why people do:

    Money site<---Web 2.0(buffer)<---BST blog network

So that if anything the web 2.0 will get the penalty. I also think high authority web 2.0 are more resistant to penalties.

Dont make things too complicated, If you want long term ranking than use them for tier 2 and if not than tier 1. Dont point any PBN links to own PBN. :)

I think it's not because they're more resistant to penalties (I'm assuming this would depend on how authoritative they are compared to your money site), but because if these "buffers" were lost it wouldn't be as big of a deal as having the penalty on your money site.

If anything, wouldn't it be better to use legitimate guest posts to your own PBN? I think this would provide the same benefit you're looking for, but the risk would be more minimized in comparison.
