Is it a good idea to stay on shared hosting for a site that gets 500 uniques daily?

I contacted their live support and they said that I can technically get unlimited visitors and my hosting will still be up and steady as long as I don't overuse my memory resources and stuff like that? It's an informational website so I don't need a lot of space and stuff like that.

Is it a good idea to leave it on shared hosting? I'm paying like $10 a month.

Yeah, When you Overuse; they change your Plan to Premium. Better get a Dedicated IP, Which will cost you like 35$/Year and Make it a premium hosting with Unlimited storage and BW. I Usually do that to my sites when it reaches 1000UV/Day.

I do have a dedicated IP for $2\month from them. What will happen if I continue to stay on shared hosting? I'm seeing no downsides so far besides being a little slow at times.

500 uniques a day is nothing. I've had sites getting 10x as much on shared hosting accounts and, while it obviously depends on how resource-heavy your "neighbours" are, it generally isn't an issue.

Once you start experiencing major slowdowns or the hosting company tells you that you're overusing resources (make sure it's not one of those hosting companies that doesn't tell you and just starts charging extra though!) you can get a VPS or a dedi and move the site over in a day.
