I've seen dozens of networks use this. I am not sure it will work for backlink building. Will it?
That might be good if you're linking to and from websites that relate to your topic and have ******** links. Otherwise, don't bother.
Footer links are next to useless imho. The further down on a site links are located the less juice they pass. It would be ok to place internal links in footer to influence anchor text.
Really?! I've never heard that. I guess it makes sense, though.
Maybe a good alternative would be a sidebar with links in it, then?
Depends Upon the purpose... If you are trying to show people relevant sites in your network then it's good thing but if you trying to pass link juice for manipulation of PR or ranking then you might get into trouble...
You can see some big sites which mention there other sites in network usually relevant to that niche and never get in trouble because they bringing more value to end user. Now you have to decide if you bringing value to user by placing links or just manipulation.... LOL Tricky Situation....
They will be relevant, thank you very much for your answers!
It depends, buddy. If the sites are relevant and strong then yes, it'll help!
