I put my link in an identi post 2 nights ago and when I saw the post on the front page of identi, I pinged the front page. The URL to my site appeared in G search results in less than 30 seconds. The link still shows up in G search, when I do a search from my URL, but my site is not indexed yet.
 
Identi.ca works just fine. You need to wait though, its not magic. Typically any site I throw on there indexes in 12-48 hours.
 
Consider using the other Status.net sites as well... there are almost 40 that work, and most of those links get picked up quickly - at least they have for me.
 
It still works great for me, just wait it out and make sure you have joined a fair amount of groups and have acquired a few followers . Then your comments will be spread across multiple pages.

And use techniques such as the one movieman32 stated, ping the front page once you have made your comment.
 
Just an update for anyone who cares, my site got indexed today. The only link I built to it was an indentica post. Took 12 days to index.
