Is HideMyAss Sufficient?

Hey Blackhatters, I was wondering if any of you could tell me if hidemyass.com is sufficient for uploading at YT. I went to YT and the vids all played, and I checked my IP at ipchicken and sure enough, it was different. Any thoughts or comments??

Just my .02, but I would not use a public proxy like that, because, well, I can guarantee you that a lot of other people have used it (and thus the IP that you have there) for all sorts of things before you.

I'll put it another way: Would you trust a used condom to keep you safe?

There are much better options that don't use a Web based proxy, and allow you to do much more sophisticated things, like IP rotation, etc. You might want to start with ProxyF1rewall, and go from there.
 
Go read the stickies in the Proxies forum, they will walk you through how to setup all the tools and get yourself some good proxies.
 
i would recommend using a SSH tunnel on a trusted box, it works perfectly as a proxy and the speeds are perfect

if you need to be 100% anon and not just IP linked ... then you can set up proxy chains while still keeping your ssh tunnel

also TOR is very nice, not the best but good enough for most people ... little slow tho
 
make your own proxys it faster and more secure check out glype google it

Test hidemyass on the 2nd link of my signature.
I tend to repeat myself: web-proxies are NOT good to hide your IP, they are only good to access blocked sites from schools or companies.
 
It is very easy to get pass web proxies if the website uses anything other than HTML. (Javascript, Java, Flash can easily show your true IP)
 
I can see your IP if you use hidemyass.com. I have tested this.
 
nope not very safe in my experience.. and i don't really like hidemyass..

lol, gotta love the used condom reference. seriously though public proxies are not the way to go.
 
Remember, that as suggested above, web-based proxies can give away your real IP and such details if you don't strip objects such as Applets, Flash or Javascript. If the following appeared (encoded) in a page:

Code: 
<script src="http://realdomain.com/mydetails.js"></script>

Your browser would make the request, thus your real details are revealed. Google's sites are heavy with the Javascript/AJAX so I'd advise caution.
 
I'd not go with Tor for that, it's no good solution for larger traffic requirements like YT uploads.
You can make much more money by investing a few dollar into a fast proxy than wasting hours on slow proxy uploads. Don't be cheap on the wrong end ;)
