Wasn't quite sure where to put this.

I don't know about the rest of you but I really like Google Docs, it works well for me as I'm working daily across 3 different machines. Here's my question. Do you think it's a stupid idea to keep details of log ins, urls of tier 2 sites and pretty much all the info that we have to keep track of doing a tiered SEO strategy, including things like timetables and notes ALL on Google docs.

Do you think Google spies on Google docs? Do you think if they are they would be looking for anything pertaining to SEO tactics and as a result discount related backlinks and SEO efforts?

There are millions of users who use Google Docs (Google Drive)
Google cannot spy on all of them
    Don't worry for this issue

    Get a grip...you don't need to worry.

Google would go after Google's properties (frauds, fake/junk sites, adsense bombing, etc.) that would cost them money.

As long as you don't share the docs to public..you'll be safe, for now.

i've had a similar fear in the past. What helped me get over it was understanding that if it's taken this long for them to come up with algo changes as simple as devaluing EMDs and keyword anchor texts, think of how long it'll be before they have an algo to check for black hat stuff in docs! Let alone the processing power they'd need to go through the kajillions of docs. It probably just isn't worth it to them.

I have the same problem as you, I get almost paranoid and thinking they are watching me all the time. But the true is that there is millions of users as "gullsinn" says and it would be impossible for them to keep track on all people. I also think that it would be grounds for a lawsuit if they "spies"
Just keep doing what you do :)

Its not hard to make algo for checking documents with more than 100 or X number of links, but as previous user said - lawsuit would result in millions, plus whole google docs project would be destroyed or at least crippled because everybody would know that is not safe to use them.

LOL ... I would guess that G can cover their tracks easily if they wanted to check specified docs ... so lets say they are doing a manual review of your website, and had a need to see if you had docs .. maybe your footprint would lead thm to it .. especially if all they had to do was search for a specific url string that was linking to your site & see if anyone maintained a record of that for some reason .. just speculating of course :(

They may not spy on Google Docs but they are certainly looking at your sites in Google Analytics,Webmasters Tools and when you are logged in gmail, they track chrome.

Thanks for the responses. Glad to see I'm not the only one paranoid about this! I guess it would take a lot of power to sift through all Google Docs to check for these things, although I don't think it would be particularly hard for them to do so if they wanted. Radioman, if they 'spy' on your gmail and chrome use then why is it such a stretch to think they're spying on docs too?

i had this same paranoia some years ago, I even went to the extent in thinking that google's satellites were looking at me through the window and I always kept it closed.
