    Hello guys,

I build now some web 2.0 properties with unique article. Some of them I back up with Tier 2 backlinks from wikis and forum profiles (but only 20-50 backlinks).

Is is normal that my site dropped from position 10 to position 16 during this period?

    Thank you,
    Leo

Yes. There is almost a direct corrolation to Googles constant repositioning of your site and the creation of direct links (WEB2 or otherwise)
If your current linking profile is small - or none - then Google is seeing a very large acceleration of linking.

The trick is to either be patient and build slowly - or be consistent and continue to build over time.
In spammy niches this may not be required as the chances are that your competition is building links in a "0-100 in 4.8 seconds then dead stop" method as well, and the thing is with SEO (like with Poker) you aren't trying to beat Google (contrary to the common myth) you are trying to beat the other sites that are trying to rank for the word or phrase.

If they are spammy shite with crappy links - you just need to be a little less spammy and your links a little less crappy.

The only issue with Google is, it's a game where they know the rules and won't tell anyone else exactly what they are. :)

Thank you for replies, guys. I build cca 2 web 2.0s in two days and so on. I will make 10 of them and make them look natural by adding more posts. Then hopefully I will see increase again :)

Recently I have dropped from position 8 to position 15. I did some on-page SEO (making H1 just the keyword), but can be the position drop caused by me linking to one of my competitors? They are sort of authority so I supposed to be good. They also offered me a link from one of their weaker, yet thematically the same website.

Hi, I'm not profess in SEO but this is my real and recent experience of rank dancing.

My wordpress site 1 year and 4 months of age with no any back link. Last month since 18 Jan 2013, the seo service company had blast many back links to my site every week (blast with 3-tier pyramid and wheel method). My site always dance while the links were building never stop , it's up and down between #16-#12 for 3 weeks. Last week, after all back link process done, my site Rank on #12 to #11 and #7. It's very good, but yesterday my site dance again. It's dance #15-#11, I found that the SEO service company is blasting the last process with 100 back link yesterday. It's still dancing now. (==) Hope it back to 1st page soon.

I think that your site will dance while you're building many of back links.
And after that it will be stop and ranked on your expected position. Good Luck.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty natural for websites to dance around a bit when you start building more backlinks to them. What Scritty said pretty much sums it up pretty well.

Yeah, no worries, it's not a significant drop or anything.

It just means that they're re-positioning your site is all as they index/drop links :)

It's quite normal for rankings to dance around before settling higher, generally about 1-2 weeks after your link has been indexed is where your rankings will stay stable at......

    Hi,

Yes its perfectly normal, and don't be surprised if it gets wiped off the map entirely for a while!

Where most people go wrong with SEO is they are 'reactive' instead of 'proactive' - for example a lot of people are 'reactive' to their ranks dropping off the map and stop/change what they are doing.

This US patent describes why that is the worst thing to do http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...ALL&S1=08244722&OS=PN/08244722&RS=PN/08244722

Yep, I know, it's hard to get used to. I remember back in the day checking google page by page with a keyword search looking for my sites position.

Thank you guys for your replies. And thank you, Matthew for the patent link (I will translate it later). Is it a patent by Google?

Well, it is a three-way link exchange with on of the sites I compete with.

It goes like this: CompetitorĀ“s main site <-- My website <-- CompetitorĀ“s minor site
