    IM all the way.
Its about time I installed an analytics program I think to keep tabs on my websites statistics. However, is Google Analytics safe? I have a wordpress niche blog and I don't like the idea of giving Google even more access to it. It hasn't got adsense on it.

Do you people use Google Analytics? Or do you use something else? Also, as a site question, are there any wordpress apps that make installation of this stuff easy? I haven't even tried before so its a learning experience for me  thanks!

I used to use Google Analytics. But I decided to stop using it. Simply because I truly believe Bounce Rate and other page statistics are rank factors. Maybe they're not the most important factors but they are there, otherwise Matt Cutts wouldn't talk all the time about creating a site where visitors will want to come back, or link back. It just makes sense.

So, I am considering moving statistics to Get Clicky, which looks very nice. In the meantime, I am using Piwik (self hosted), and AwStats (self hosted). Heard good things about wopra or something like that as well

Check out http://haveamint.com . It's a paid tracking software but if you know the right sources, you can get it for free. Best tracking app I have seen. All you do is add a javascript code and thats it.

The ONLY time I ever use g analytics is on my ecommerce sites.

Google loves ecommerce sites, so I don't care if they get manually reviewed or not. And if you make a decent site, the bounce rate will be within reason.

However, on ANY other type of site, I NEVER use g analytics. Just too risky, and the bounce rate is clearly shown to google too. And on top of that, unless you create a seperate g analytics account for every website, it leaves a nice big footprint in the html source code too.

Do you have to use the same code/id (or whatever) for every site? If there is any sort of number etc. that is used to identify your account, then that leaves an obvious foot print to all of your sites. This is the main reason why I stay away from stat tracking programs like this.

Yes, you can create a new account for each site, and get a unique ID etc. that way, but who wants to do that if they have a crap ton of sites?

    Or is this program different?

I generally don't use GA on my blackhat websites. Even on wh websites the results are very questionable. Try piwik on normal websites or statpress on wp they're both free.

I think they probably use the bounce rate to rank you. They most likely compare it to your kw competitors, so if your site is tight, then it may actually help you.

What is the problem with Google Analytics? A lot of people is using its and even I am using it. Its safer than other tools.

But its very sensitive. Please read the TOS of google analytics before you start carefully.
