My girlfriends facebook has ads spammed all over it, on pictures under the timeline header and just about everywhere an ad could but should not be placed. I don't have the update yet but I'm guessing it will be rolled out slowly. Is facebook really that desperate for a click on an ad?

yeah, they really are...facebook usage on the desktop is going down and in a few years it will be a very small percentage of their users...

one case example for this is my wife, my wife loves facebook, but she only uses it on her ipad...guess what, the ipad version has no ads on it and even worse, if you use facebook on your smart phone, there is not even close to enough screen space to place any ads...

i believe in the future, all these smartphones are going to be free, with the caveat of big display ads appearing, at least i see this on the android platform, i don't think apple would do this as they won't need to...

facebook is creating the facebook phone and eventually that phone will be free too so they can place big ads on there that you can't ignore...

I saw some bloke was that said "I wouldn't advertise on facebook because that means I'm not a marketer, I'm Mark's customer" I thought that was pretty clever.

Yep, that's not normal. Check it in a different browser. I wish ads were more prominent really, my CTRs are shite.

And yet there are even CMOs who advocate text/banner ad platforms like AdWords and Facebook, and also those who collaborate with ad agencies. So by giving money to someone who can help with a company's marketing strategy, the CMO is no longer a marketer?

i did not see any ads like that but the displaying of ads depends on geographical basis.now facebook has entered stock market, its hard to stand in market facing ups and downs.
